Anna Leventhal’s acclaimed short story collection Sweet Affliction (Invisible Publishing) won the Quebec Writers’ Federation Concordia University First Book Prize and was named a book of the year by CBC Books. It was translated into French by Daniel Grenier and published by Marchand de feuilles. Her writing has appeared in Geist, Matrix, Maisonneuve, Lettres québécoises, carte blanche, The Puritan, The Montreal Review of Books, and several anthologies. She was nominated for the Journey Prize, won a Quebec Writing Competition award, and was shortlisted for a Canada Writes award. Her short story “Gravity” was adapted by writer/director Jess Lee into the short film “Sweet Affliction.,” which won the Prix du Public at the IMAGE +NATION LGBTQueer Film Festival in 2017. After many years in Montreal, Anna currently lives in Winnipeg.
